Himalayan 100 Miles: Day5 (the finish line)
By the time the alarm went off at 4.30, i’d already been awake for hours, my head too full of thoughts for sleep. Thoughts about what we’d achieved and what was still to come. Thoughts of course of Lucinda and … Continue reading

I think I killed my Asics
When I started to think about running the Himalayan 100 back in around April i had just bought a pair of Asics 3010 gels. I paid a little more for the 3010′s, as I knew I would be putting in … Continue reading
Running faster!
Before signing up to the Himalayan 100, I had always ran, but it was mainly the odd Sunday morning run or a day out in the Lakes, and i’d never really been one for training or club running as such. … Continue reading

I’ve never been to India or Nepal before, so as part of my preparation for the trip, I booked myself in to see the nurse at my local doctor’s surgery and find out what sort of medication I might need for … Continue reading
Just giving
I finally got around to contacting the Eve appeal people at the and getting their permission to raise funds on their behalf. I’ve also set up an account on justgiving.com, so that I can start to collect some money from potential sponsors.

Moving the goal posts
Sadly, I received word today that the 7 tribes race is definitely off. Apparently in order to cover the administrative costs of the race a minimum of 25 people had to sign up by this stage, but as of today … Continue reading
A very big idea.
Following a holiday to Egypt last summer, when I ran in the desert around the resort almost every day, I realised that there really was a possibility that with some serious training I could take on a race like the … Continue reading

Mapping the Uk’s fell runs
In 2009 i set about trying to see where the fell runs closed ro me were, in some cases the locations were given by grid ref, others by name, or by longitude and latitude. It was quite difficult to get a picture of this, so i decided to try and covert them all to co-ordinates and map them on google maps, colour coding them by distance and severity.
This took far longer than expected but most of the results are now mapped. Continue reading
